the plan
The plan is pretty simple I guess. Fly from Singapore to Hong Kong and see what its all about there, hopefully my mate Mike gets his shit together and emails me back so at least I get some local knowledge and don't wander around like a retard (which I'm destined to do for the rest of the trip so avoiding this where possible is a bit of a plus). From there its over the straight to Guangzhou where I've got two nights at the YHA and try to get some tickets onto the next stop, wherever that might be. Somewhere west, on the way to Nanning, so maybe Wuzhou, check out Guilin, yes its a bit North, I know, fuck off. Theeeen south to Nanning for a few weeks to meet JD and his needle weilding ways possibly resulting in me becoming the test subject leaving me with a lifetime of droopy face syndrome from botched acupuncture. January 19 is the flight from Guilin to KL to Singapore, two days later to Tokyo for 10 days of nipple deep snow, then back to Singapore drop off the gear, get back to China for a few weeks. From there is anyone's guess. All I know is there had better be some waves. I've heard mention of Timor, India and Indonesia so we will see..2 DEC all this hijinx kicks off, so Mike, start typing bro.

the beginning?
OK, so this is a start of some sort of travel journal to make me do something productive and share whatever happens to be of marginal interst throughout this trip. We'll say that today is day one, so starting from now the 'travel' has begun. Flights Singapore to Hong Kong are booked, a massive AU$23 spent on a hostel in Guangzhou and a return flight back to Singapore from Guilin is paid for. My passport is in the hands of the ever-efficient Chinese Consualte in Singapore getting the all important visa for entry and I still have nowhere to stay in Nanning or any idea what I'm gonna be doing there. All in all a good start as far as I'm concerned.
